A group called Free-X have today released details on how to exploit your Xbox (Dashbpard) to be able to run Linux and homebrew apps, without a mod chip.

This hack will be developed over the coming few weeks and soon it will probably have nearly as much power as a modchip (It can never be as effective as one but it can nearly match its functions) allowing people to boot pirate games etc etc.

Microsoft I think will try to stop this (using live, updated xboxs etc) but I dont think they will be able to and soon this hack will become pretty mainstream.

People blame Piracy and such for the demise of the Dreamcast, but piracy i also think is one of the main reasons behind the success of Sony and the Playstations so it cant work either way.

Microsoft will no doubt try and crack down hard on this as they usually try and do as far as Piracy is concerned, with them already able to detect modchips through live unless they have a switch..In short i dont think it'll harm the X box too much, but it will be interesting to see if hardware interest increases, and how gaming sales are affected.

So you know, we do have details on the hack but well to be honest, with Microsoft being Microsoft, i'm not going to publish it here..
