Gamecube Hacked?
As you probly know, piracy is a major thing within many industrys. And most of you should already be aware that this generations consoles, the ps2, dreamcast, and xbox have been hacked for a while. Methods of course we wouldnt share even if we knew, but they've been done. Each generation is slightly harder to crack than the last, but hackers seem to love the challenge.
However, Gamecube has seemed to be a challenge too far for the underground teams. Nintendo have been very careful in protecting this system, especially being their first venture onto a disk format. Been around for over a year, a normal console has usually been cracked by now and pirated games, or at least region free consoles have made their way onto the market.
With Gamecube however, this is not so, aside from the Freeloader disk, which isnt the same thing aside from the region free effect. It does seem tho that hackers have made progress. From several sources it would appear that people have successfully ripped gamecube data off a disk onto another format. But in the scheme of things this is waay off the mark of actually cracking the system.
I cannot say i wish these people luck, but it would be interesting to see if they make further progress. All the same, i doubt Ninty have anything to worry about...at least as far as this goes.
